[Via Satellite 01-21-2015] Orbcomm has purchased InSync Software from the privately-held Identec Group AG, closing the acquisition on Jan. 16. InSync Software is a California-based provider of Internet of Things (IoT) enterprise solutions. The company's software products are used in sensor-driven asset tracking and remote monitoring applications worldwide.
Orbcomm plans to expand InSync's uniform software platform from Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID), cellular and sensor technologies to include satellite technology. The company anticipates leveraging InSync Software's turn-key software applications to build and deploy Machine to Machine (M2M) and IoT enterprise solutions in core markets such as transportation and distribution, cold chain, warehousing, supply chain, yard management, and manufacturing.
InSync has 47 employees located in the U.S. and South Asia, with some working at a development center in Hyderabad, India. The company's customers include Iron Mountain, Dell SonicWALL, Gates Global LLC and Emerson Electric, Co.
